Seasonal Magic

It’s been a little more than half a year since I started writing here.  J had been badgering me about blogging for, like, EVER (seriously…her original blog is going on eight, which in net dog years, is pretty impressive.)

What finally gave me the kickstart, though, was leaving a comment here, which spawned me two other relentless encouragers, until I finally ceded to the siren call no writer can resist, please say more.  (I guess I should admit that J was already in thick with ‘em both, but it was still abundantly gratifying.)

There are endless things I love about Christmas, but the two of the strongest pulls are food and family.

I like cookies for Christmas Eve dessert, and last night we had Fresca’s grandmother’s marvelous Tu Tu Cookies, which I had never encountered before (maybe because we’re Calabrese, rather than Sicilian?)  And today I’m making a  Cranberry Upside-Down Cake, brought to my attention by Krista (and a great boon, as I was mesmerized by a similar recipe that I kept attempting even though I had yet to have a successful result.)

This was not actually by design, since my menu-planning was a bit haphazard this year, with what and all.

Realizing this morning that they were the source for our sweet somethings was like a little extra gift, another grace-note moment, which blogging is helping me be more aware of and track.

Thanks, guys.  And Merry Christmas.

This is very utmost reason I keep blogging after all this time - finding lovely people like you and J. Thanks for saying you feel the same way.

Darn. I started a LJ blog but forget it's log-in info! Anyway, my Ama blesses you, I bless you, the cookies bless you for liking them!
And for sharing your enthusiasm for the power of a loving touch in the midst of darkness.
Blogging is sweet indeed.
Happy New Year! to you and Mrs. Twelve Frogs!

P.S. That was Fresca, as you probably figured. I forget when one is "Anonymous," one is anonymous.
P.P.S. Is this for real? The captcha is "highway COMETS". How cool is that?!?
